CNIM eligibility requirements

The Certification in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring examination is designed and written for those health care professionals who are trained and currently practicing in an intraoperative environment. Candidates must meet the following requirements by the application deadline:

  1. Documentation of 100 surgical cases monitored. The candidates must be present and an active participant in the set-up and monitoring of each case listed.
  2. R. EEG T., R. EP T., RNCST, or RET (Canadian EEG credential) OR a bachelor’s degree. A copy of current registration or certification OR verification of bachelor’s degree must accompany the application.
  3. Completion and filing of an Application for the Certification in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring examination.
  4. Payment of required fee.

Beginning in 2008, the former eligibility requirements of “another Allied Health care credential or Nursing credential” will no longer be accepted. The credentials listed above will be the only credentials accepted in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree. The current eligibility requirements will be in effect through the 2007 testing sessions.

Candidate Handbooks for the 2008 testing sessions will be available at www.ptcny.com by November 2007.
