Coehlo Partners with ABRET

The Honorable Tony Coelho has joined the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists, Inc. (ABRET) as the public member on the Board of Directors. Mr. Coelho will be assisting ABRET in obtaining national accreditation.

ABRET is a not-for-profit credentialing board for EEG, EP and Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring Technologists. ABRET has been focused on the competency and evaluation of technologists serving the neurology community and patients for 40 years, granting R. EEG T., R. EP T., and CNIM credentials.

Mr. Coelho has had an impressive career in politics, beginning in 1978 when he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from central California. He served as Chairperson of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee from 1981-1986, and later became Majority Whip. In 1999 he became the General Chairman of then-Vice-President, Al Gore's Presidential Campaign.

Since retiring from politics, Mr. Coelho has held positions in banking and investment firms, serving as CEO and Director. He has also served on a number of corporate boards.

Mr. Coelho is the author of the Americans with Disabilities Act. He devotes much of his time to public service and is currently the Chairperson elect of the Board of Directors of the Epilepsy Foundation of America.
