ABRET Written Exams
One of the following must be met and verified for candidates to be eligible to take the written EEG and EP exams.
- Candidate must be a student or graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited END Program
- Candidate must have at least an associate’s degree plus one year of experience
- Candidate must have at least three years of experience
EEG Written Exam 2003-2006
Overall, 56% passed the exam the first time. Of those retaking the exam, 33% passed

Education:
- 12% of candidates were CAAHEP graduates and had a pass rate of 56%
- 33% of candidates had vocational/technical training and a pass rate of 46%
- 35% of candidates had high school as their highest education level and had a pass rate of 51%
- 19% of candidates had a bachelor’s degree and a 63% pass rate
- Only 3% had an advanced degree and a pass rate of 72%
Education does seem to make a difference. Pass rates do increase with education.
Experience does not correlate well with pass rates on the written EEG exam.

58% passed on the first attempt. 35% of the repeating candidates passed.

CNIM Written Exam 2003-2006
One of the following must be met and verified for candidates to be eligible to take the CNIM Exam:
- Health care credential plus documentation of 100 cases monitored
- Bachelor’s degree plus documentation of 100 cases monitored
- 68% passed on their first attempt. The pass rate for repeaters was 46%.
- 39% had another health care credential. Their pass rate was 50%.
- 61% of candidates had a bachelor’s degree or higher and a 61% pass rate.
- Some of the candidates with bachelor’s or advanced degrees, also documented they had another health care credential.
